Here’s what we found:


The Fascia + Gut Connection

The most common root cause? Dehydrated fascia—leading to compression and torquing of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Specifically, we often see dysfunction around a small valve that connects the small intestine to the large intestine, called the ileocecal valve. This little gateway plays a big role in digestion.

When fascia is dehydrated, especially from sitting too long, past surgeries, or stress, the layers stick together. This pulls the ileocecal valve out of alignment and creates two possible issues:

  • If the valve stays closed: You’ll likely feel bloated, distended, and gassy.

  • If it stays open: Bacteria from the small intestine leaks into the colon, causing loose stools or diarrhea.

The intestines themselves feel like sausage casings—delicate and easily affected by restriction or adhesions. That’s why restoring fascial hydration and movement makes such a big difference.

We also noticed a strong emotional component with gut issues. Emotions like grief, depression, fear, and anxiety are commonly present and can make the problem worse.

When your body’s in pain, these emotions amplify—triggering stress hormones, tightening the gut even more, and doubling the sensation of pain.
