Fasting for women during monthly cycle

We have found that there is a lot of controversy and opinions about fasting for women around their monthly cycles. There are two approaches, one for those individuals who are experienced in fasting and another for those who have never attempted to fast before. Before discussing this further, for those who have never attempted to fast before, we recommend that you start your fast significantly prior to, or immediately after your cycle.  Someone who is experienced in fasting can begin the fast at any point in time. 

Within the first three days of fasting, there is an elevated level of detoxification as the body is converting to burning fat and using ketones for energy rather than using sugar or carbohydrates to fuel your body. This has an effect on  hormone levels, blood sugar regulation and your liver and other organs are working hard as the body is detoxing. 

In today’s world most people have some level of dehydration with many people being chronic. Dehydration causes  constriction and compression to the fascial meridians, organs and pelvic floor, driving up stress hormones causing more inflammation in the system.
